$25-28/hour DOE
This is a Field Service Mechanic position. The mechanic would service the Ottawa - Lawrence and surrounding areas. This is not a shop position. Travel to the Topeka location would be required 1-2 times a month for safety meetings or other Service Department meetings.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the effective repair of machine components in the field, at high levels of quality
Recondition and repair equipment and components
Plan methods and sequence of performing repairs assigned
Pre-order all parts and materials required to perform assigned repairs
Effect the repairs in a safe and effective manner
Ensure all repairs complete as assigned and the cosmetic appearance are up to standards
Perform inspections required to determine cause of failure is done following established guidelines and are completed with the cause identified
Maintain the work area in a clean and safe condition
Maintain good working records for time, parts, supplies, and outside purchases in repairs
Ensure all records are legible and in compliance with established methods
Report all record keeping daily from the field, even when not returning daily to the company
Maintain shop tools, equipment and vehicles
Maintain personal appearance in a professional and neat condition. Wear all personal protective equipment, as required; and urges others to do so.
All communications with customers and co-workers are conducted in a manner reflecting respect and integrity
Qualifications
Strong potential to develop good mechanical skills, good communication skills, and safe work habits
Be able to work independent of direct supervision in a field environment
Contribution to spirit of teamwork and cooperation through the branch location, specifically with parts personnel and other service technicians
A technical school or equivalent experience in mechanical repairs is preferred, but not required
Valid driver's license; clean MVR
Physical Requirements
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate construction equipment.
Occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 50-100 pounds and/or frequently lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling 20-50 pounds and/or continuous lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling 10-20 pounds
Regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, grasp or pull and lift objects. Occasionally required to sit, climb, and balance, kneel, stoop, couch, and crawl
Consistently exposed to outside weather conditions, fumes, and loud noise.
